The latest Microsoft Teams Rooms Driver introduces live telemetry, expanded device intelligence, and cloud integration to reduce downtime and improve the meeting experience.
Utelogy is excited to announce Version 4.0 of its Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) Driver, delivering a major advancement in how organizations monitor, manage, and support Microsoft Teams Rooms at scale.
The latest release moves beyond traditional periodic polling by introducing a live, push-based telemetry stream directly from the Microsoft Teams Rooms application. This gives IT and AV teams near-instant visibility into room health, meeting status, peripherals, occupancy, configuration and other operational information.
Combined with new Microsoft Teams Rooms cloud integration, expanded room intelligence and enhanced BYOD and peripheral monitoring, Version 4.0 enables organizations to identify issues faster, improve troubleshooting and maintain a more accurate, real-time view of their Microsoft Teams Rooms estate.
For enterprises managing hundreds or thousands of collaboration spaces, this means faster issue identification, less operational work, better room utilization insights, better capacity planning, and higher uptime—helping IT teams deliver more reliable meeting experiences.
“Our goal has always been to make AV operations proactive rather than reactive,” said Kevin Morrison, CEO of Utelogy. “This latest enhancement gives customers unprecedented insight into their Microsoft Teams Rooms estate. Instead of waiting for users to report issues, IT teams can see what’s happening in real time, respond faster and deliver a consistently exceptional meeting experience.”
From Periodic Monitoring to Real-Time Intelligence
At the heart of Version 4.0 is a fundamental change in how Utelogy receives information from Microsoft Teams Rooms. Following an initial snapshot of the room’s current state, Utelogy receives a continuous stream of updates as changes occur.
Call status, peripheral changes, and room settings can therefore be reflected almost immediately rather than waiting for the next polling cycle. Traditional Event Log and U-Graph polling is automatically suspended while the live connection is healthy, helping reduce monitoring overhead.
Resilience is built in. If the live connection becomes unavailable, the Driver automatically falls back to traditional polling to maintain visibility and resumes live streaming once the connection is restored. Where the required supporting service version is present, the real-time connection is enabled automatically with no additional configuration required.
Richer Room and Device Intelligence
Version 4.0 significantly expands the depth of Microsoft Teams Rooms’ information available through Utelogy, introducing dozens of new state values covering room configuration, displays, cameras, audio, hardware, occupancy and meeting experiences.
IT teams can gain greater visibility into features including Front Row, third-party meeting support, whiteboarding, digital signage and room configuration, alongside richer display, camera and audio information.
Hardware intelligence includes manufacturer, model, CPU, device ID, Teams application version and supported capabilities. Room people-count information is also mapped directly to Utelogy’s Occupants state, supporting better understanding of room utilization and workplace capacity.
Importantly, values are only populated from confirmed room data rather than assumed defaults, providing IT teams with a more accurate picture of the room environment.
New Microsoft Teams Rooms Cloud Integration
Version 4.0 also introduces a new Cloud Source capability, giving organizations greater flexibility over where cloud-side room information originates.
Customers can operate without cloud dependency, continue using the existing Microsoft Graph-based U-Graph integration, or use the new direct MTR Cloud integration.
MTR Cloud provides access to booking and time-zone information while introducing booking actions directly within the room Driver, including cancelling or removing active bookings and sending notifications to attendees or organizers.
Cloud functionality operates independently of the local service connection, helping ensure cloud-derived information remains available even when the room endpoint cannot be reached.
Smarter BYOD and Peripheral Monitoring
Version 4.0 introduces dedicated Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) awareness to reduce unnecessary alerts when rooms switch into BYOD mode and connected peripherals legitimately become unavailable to the Teams Rooms system.
While BYOD is active, peripheral health alerts can be suppressed, and existing peripheral state information can be retained. When BYOD ends, peripheral health is immediately refreshed so genuine faults continue to be detected.
Camera, microphone and speaker changes received through the live telemetry connection also map directly to Utelogy’s standard peripheral health states, allowing issues to surface in real time through existing dashboards and alerts.
Supporting Proactive AV Operations
The release forms part of Utelogy’s broader vision for **Service-as-Software**, using intelligent automation, cloud-native technology and increasingly autonomous operations to simplify complex AV, UC and workplace technology environments.
By combining real-time room telemetry, cloud intelligence, occupancy information, and peripheral monitoring within a single platform, organizations can move from reactive support to proactive operations — identifying issues earlier, reducing downtime, and delivering more consistent meeting experiences.
Microsoft Teams Rooms Driver Version 4.0 requires **U-Computer 2.7.5 or later**. The Microsoft Teams Rooms Driver, Microsoft Teams Rooms Cloud Driver and U-Computer Service Driver must all be running Version 4.0 or later to use the new real-time telemetry and MTR Cloud functionality.
